The experience

You get picked up from your hotel and driven to The Oak Tree Wine Cellar, a 50-year-old wine retail operation in the center of Larnaca's old town. The tasting covers 10 wines: rosé, white, red and sweet varieties, each one explained by trained staff. Every wine arrives at its proper temperature in the proper glass so you can taste what the winemaker intended. Between tastings, fresh water and light crackers clear your palate.

The cellar is a 2-minute walk from the Church of Saint Lazarus. After the tasting ends, you have time to walk around the old part of the city on your own before the minivan brings you back to your hotel. A cheese platter is available if you want it. It costs 11 euros extra and serves two people.
