The experience
You arrive with a car driving licence and get a full map briefing and boat tuition before you cast off. The 250hp Marinello is built for self-steering: it has a large sun canopy, freshwater shower, toilet facilities and a sunbathing area, so the boat itself becomes your floating base for the morning or afternoon. All necessary safety equipment and a cool box are on board. The coastline of the Akamas is one of the most beautiful in Cyprus, and the boat gives you the freedom to explore on your own schedule: no guide narrating, no fixed stops, just you deciding where to anchor and how long to stay.
The suggested stops read like a map of what makes this stretch of water worth the drive. St George's Island sits 800 metres offshore and is home to seabirds and marine life including tuna, groupers and octopus. The Blue Lagoon is the most popular bay in Cyprus, with white sand visible through crystal clear turquoise water and excellent snorkeling around the chamili islet. Secret Beach lives up to its name: you can swim through a cave or around rocks to reach a hidden sandy beach. Manolis Bay has caves, jumbled rocks and a family of trumpet fish that change colour with their surroundings. Fontana Amorosa, named for an ancient Roman freshwater spring, still has four visible rock cutouts for docking and underwater amphora from shipwrecks fused into the seabed. Arnaoutis Beach sits at Cyprus's westernmost point and offers seclusion for a picnic, with an offshore reef 8km away marking a natural turnaround point.
If you want to add action beyond driving, skis, wakeboards, kneeboards and inflatable tubes are available to hire. The boat works for first-timers and experienced sailors alike, and the full day option (8:30–16:00) gives you six and a half hours on the water if you want to cover more ground.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English, French, German, Russian, Greek and Dutch.
Can I take the boat out if I've never piloted one before?
Yes. A full briefing and boat tuition are given before you depart, and the boat is designed for self-steering. The operator says it works for first-timers to experienced sailors alike.
What is St George's Island like when I get there?
St George's Island is a barren volcanic outcrop located about 800 metres offshore. The surface is home to multiple species of seabirds, and below the water you'll find tuna, groupers, trumpet fish and octopus.
Is the Blue Lagoon worth the trip, or is it just crowded?
The Blue Lagoon is the most popular bay in Cyprus for a reason: the white sandy bottom is visible through crystal clear turquoise water, and the chamili islet provides excellent snorkeling habitat for marine life. Being able to pilot your own boat means you can arrive early or stay late to avoid the peak hours.
What water sports can I do from the boat?
Skis, wakeboards, kneeboards and inflatable tubes are available to hire separately, so you can add those activities to your day on the water.
