The experience
You arrive at Latchi Harbour (about 45 minutes north of Paphos) and board a brand-new speedboat built for eight people. The boat is already fitted with snorkelling equipment, a coolbox for drinks and food, and lifejackets. You take the helm and steer toward the Akamas Peninsula, where the water turns from turquoise to deep blue. There's no fixed route. You decide where to stop, how long to linger in the shallows, and which hidden coves to explore. The boat's 150-horsepower engine responds to your touch, and the hull is narrow enough to slip into spots a larger tour boat cannot reach.
Most people head straight for Blue Lagoon, the main draw: a pocket of impossibly clear water where you can see the seabed from the surface. You anchor, slip on the snorkelling mask that's already on board, and drop in. The water stays calm in the lagoon, and visibility runs deep. Some groups spend an hour here. Others move on to other stops along the peninsula. A coolbox sits on deck so you can keep drinks cold between swims. If you want a captain to handle the driving instead, one can be arranged for an additional hourly fee, leaving you free to navigate only the water.
Fuel costs roughly €50 for a 3- or 4-hour rental, paid when you return the boat based on what you actually burned. The harbour is 45 minutes from central Paphos by car, so you'll need to arrange your own transport, or book the optional transfer from your hotel, which handles the drive both ways and leaves you to focus on the water.
