The Experience

If you have a free afternoon in Limassol and have never dived before, this is the entry point. You don't need certification or prior experience. Just a sense of adventure and moderate fitness. Before you arrive, you'll complete your pre-dive paperwork and an interactive eLearning session on the PADI app so the basics feel familiar when you get to the dive centre. The instructor fits you with your gear, walks you through essential safety information, and teaches you the simple skills you'll need under their direct supervision.

The dive site itself is what makes this work. Amathus Ruins sits in shallow, calm water just offshore from one of Cyprus's most ancient cities. Scattered stone columns and remnants of the ancient harbour create an underwater landscape that rewards both first-timers and divers interested in archaeology. You'll practice your new skills in the shallows first, then explore with your instructor by your side. Frequent sightings include rays, lionfish, octopus, barracuda, nudibranchs, small reef fish, and occasionally sea turtles.

A 15-minute drive from the dive centre gets you to Amathus Ruins. Hotel pickup from Limassol and the cruise ship terminal is included, along with all scuba equipment, snorkeling gear, and coffee or tea. The full experience runs less than 3 hours. If you want to visit the ruins on land after the dive, you're welcome to self-tour them.
