Monolithos Winery Tour in Cyprus: Learn from the Owner
Walk the cellar, taste six wines, hear the story from the winemaker
A shared winery tour at Monolithos in Cyprus where you walk through the cellar and exhibits with the owner, then taste six award-winning wines in the private tasting room while learning how terroir and microclimate shape the vineyard's character. Maximum 12 guests. The experience runs 75 minutes and is led in English. At the end, you can buy wine at ex-cellar prices, including bottles exclusive to the winery.
The Experience
The owner leads you through the winemaking process from vine to bottle, walking the cellar and exhibits to show how Monolithos makes its wines. This is not a standard tour narrated by staff. The winemaker himself explains the choices and techniques behind each step, and you see the spaces where the work happens. After the walk, your group moves to the private tasting room.
You taste six wines over the next hour: white, red, and rosé, all estate-grown and several winners in international competitions. The tasting is guided, so you learn to distinguish what sets these hand-crafted wines apart from mass-produced ones, and how the Troodos mountain range's microclimate, soil, and the vineyard's history shape what ends up in your glass. The room overlooks the surrounding mountain landscapes, and the group stays small, no more than 12 people, so there is room to ask questions.
At the end, the winery offers wine for sale at ex-cellar prices. Some bottles are exclusive to Monolithos and not sold elsewhere. You are free to browse and buy, or simply leave with what you learned.

Is this one for you?The small group size and direct access to the winemaker suit anyone who wants to learn the story behind the wine rather than simply taste it. If you prefer a guided experience where you can ask questions and understand the craft, this tour delivers that. If you want to browse and taste on your own pace, a self-guided visit would suit you better.

Can I taste the wines if I don't usually drink wine?
Yes. The tasting is educational and led by the winemaker, so the focus is on understanding flavor, terroir and technique rather than consumption. You taste small pours of six wines and can sip or skip any you prefer.
What does the owner explain about how the mountain location affects the wine?
Monolithos sits in the Troodos mountain range, and the winemaker discusses how the microclimate, altitude, soil and history of that specific place shape the character of the wines. This concept, terroir, is central to understanding why wines from different regions taste different even when made from the same grape varieties.
Is there a minimum age to join the tour?
Yes, you must be at least 18 years old to participate in the wine tasting.
How many people typically join this tour?
The tour is shared and limited to a maximum of 12 guests, so the group stays intimate and you have time to talk with the winemaker and other visitors.
Can I buy wine to take home?
Yes. At the end of the tour, you have the opportunity to purchase wine at ex-cellar prices directly from the winery. Some bottles are exclusive to Monolithos and are not available through other retailers.
