The experience

You're driving a quad bike or buggy out of Paphos into the Troodos foothills, engine noise fading as the road narrows and the landscape opens up. The first stop is Adonis Falls: a natural pool fed by mountain water that's cold enough to make you gasp the moment you step in. Goggles are provided, and most people spend twenty or thirty minutes here, floating under the rock face and letting the cold shock wear off. It's the kind of place that looks small in photos but feels like you've found something.

After that, the quad and buggy tour continues toward Lara Bay, where the Turtle Conservation Station sits near the beach. You get another swim here, this time in warmer water, and the station itself is worth a walk around. You might see loggerhead or green turtles depending on the season, though there's no guarantee. The ride between stops includes a couple of photo breaks, so you're not just driving. You're stopping to take in the views and let the dust settle. Petrol is included in the price, which means no surprises at the end.

The whole day runs on a fixed schedule, and you need a valid driving license to operate the vehicle. A photocopy won't do, and the operator will check it before you leave. If you're renting a quad or buggy for four or six seats, you'll need to be at least 21. Solo riders can be 18. It's not a gentle afternoon (the terrain is rough in places and the ride itself is physical), but that's also why the day stays uncrowded and why you end up in places most Paphos visitors never reach.
