The Experience

You choose between a quad bike you ride solo or a buggy you drive with one passenger, or a shared four-seat or three-seat buggy option. The route starts near Coral Bay and climbs into Akamas, the last large unspoiled coastal area in Cyprus. The forest trails and rough roads are why off-road vehicles work here—regular cars cannot reach these places. Your guide navigates the route and stops at points along the way to explain what you are passing: the village of Pegeia at the peninsula's southern edge, the wreck of the EDRO III cargo ship beached on the rocks since 2011, and cave formations carved over thousands of years.

At Lara Bay you stop to swim and learn about the sea turtle nesting program. Loggerhead and Green Turtles lay eggs here from May through September, protected by small enclosures you can see. A café near the beach serves lunch and drinks (not included). The final stop is Adonis Baths, where you swim in the natural pools and waterfalls—the entrance is 7 EUR per person, paid on site. The baths sit in a gorge where legend says the god Adonis hunted and tended horses in the Akamas forest.

All fees and taxes are included in the price. You need a valid driver's license to operate the vehicle. The tour suits all fitness levels, though it is not recommended for pregnant travelers. Infants and small children can ride in a pram or stroller, and specialized infant seats are available.
