The experience
The tour starts in Punda, the oldest district, where colorful street art and the "DUSHI CURACAO" letter signs give you the first picture of the island. Your guide walks you through the historic streets and shows the Rif Fort, built in 1828 with walls nearly a foot thick and 56 cannons. You'll cross the Queen Emma Bridge (a floating pedestrian bridge supported by 16 pontoon boats that connects the two sides of Willemstad), while the guide explains the UNESCO buildings and the city's layout. The Otrobanda district follows, its walls transformed into an open-air gallery of street art.
From the Queen Juliana Bridge, the highest in the Caribbean, you get a panoramic view of the entire city and the pontoon bridge below. Then comes the Chobolobo Liquor Distillery at Landhuis Chobolobo, established in 1896. You'll learn how Blue Curaçao liqueur is made and taste three different flavors, including the iconic blue variant, with sensory displays of the ingredients used.
Mambo Beach is the final stop, where you have time to swim in the calm turquoise water, lounge on the white sand, or walk Mambo Beach Boulevard for restaurants, bars and shops. Lounge chairs and umbrellas are available to rent. The tour ends here, leaving you free to stay longer or head back to your hotel.
