The experience
The boat leaves Hvar at 10:15 am from the Big Blue Tours office on Kroz Burak 12, behind the main promenade, or from in front of the Hotel Riva. From there, the yacht heads south to Stiniva Cove, a thirty-meter-wide pebble beach wedged between 35-meter rock walls and reachable only by water: no road leads to it, so the cove stays quiet and undeveloped. Next is Budikovac Island, a small, quiet spot on Vis's southeastern side with a pebble beach and a turquoise lagoon for swimming.
The two caves are the centerpiece. The Green Cave sits on Vis and is known for cracks in its ceiling that let light beams through, casting shifting patterns across the water. The cave runs three to five meters deep. The Blue Cave, in the Baluni Cove, is accessible only by small rowboat and famous for its light effects, when the sea is calm and the sun is high, reflected sunbeams pass through an underwater entrance and flood the cave in shades of blue, while submerged objects glow silver from above. Local fishermen knew of it for generations before Baron Eugen Rausoonet brought it to international attention in 1884.
Your last stop is Palmižana Bay in the Pakleni Islands, where sandy and pebble beaches sit beneath pine and olive trees. Several restaurants operate here. Your skipper drops you and waits for your return. After swimming, snorkeling, sunbathing or dining, you board again and head back to Hvar, arriving around 6 pm. The boat carries snorkeling equipment, paddle boards, towels, bottled water and an icebox. A restroom is on board.
