The Experience

The day starts at a parking area 6 kilometers from Omiš, where you leave dry clothes and towels in your car before boarding a minibus for a 20-minute drive upstream to the river entry point. Once on the water, you paddle about 10 kilometers through the Cetina canyon over roughly 3 hours, moving at a pace that lets you stop whenever something catches your eye—a swimming hole, a cave mouth, a cliff edge. The section is beginner-friendly and works for non-swimmers; the guide handles the route and timing while you decide which moments to jump in.

The stops themselves are the point. You'll paddle past the Island of Love and its wildlife, pull over to jump off 5-meter rocks if you want to, wade into a cave that feels like an adventure film set, and stand under a waterfall. Every stop is optional—you can stay in the raft and watch, or get wet. There's no food vendor along the way, so eat before you arrive. Helmets, safety vests and paddles come with the booking; bring a T-shirt, swimwear and shoes that won't slip on wet rock.

The minibus ride back to the parking area is included, so the whole outing—shuttle, paddle, stops and return—takes about 4 hours from start to finish. If you're staying in Split, you can add hotel pickup and drop-off at checkout; without it, you drive to the parking area yourself. Children from age 6 can join, and the activity suits all fitness levels, though it's not recommended for people with spinal injuries or cardiovascular concerns.
