The experience
The Tenorio River rises at Tenorio Volcano in Guanacaste and flows for 15 scenic miles before joining the Corobicí. You'll spend four hours on the water, paddling through sections dominated by Class III–IV white-water rapids where the current churns and sprays, then drifting through smoother stretches where the forest closes in on both banks. A bilingual guide leads the group, and all necessary equipment (paddle, helmet, life jacket) is provided.
Midway through the run, the group pulls ashore for lunch. The river's pure white water and the lush scenery make it the best rafting stretch in the Guanacaste area. Tropical birds perch in the trees above the water, visible during the slower sections. After you finish paddling, a driver takes you back to your hotel, arriving by late afternoon.
