This zip line and rappelling activity at Go Adventure Park takes you across 13 platforms and 9 cables through the rainforest canopy above the Arenal River canyon, then down a 50-meter rappel before ending with hot springs at Montaña de Fuego Resort. The tour runs about 2 hours and includes park fees, taxes, and a visit to Maleku Village. Children from age 7 are welcome, and a live English-speaking guide leads the way.
The Experience
What's the best way to see the Arenal rainforest canopy without just walking on the ground? The answer is to clip in and move between platforms suspended above the forest floor. You'll cross 13 platforms strung together by 9 zip lines, each one giving you a different angle on the Arenal River canyon and the wildlife around it. The platforms themselves become your vantage point—toucans, sloths, and three species of monkeys live in this canopy, and you're moving through their space rather than observing from below.
After the zip lines, you rappel 50 meters down the canyon wall. This is the moment the activity shifts from speed to control: you're lowering yourself on a rope with equipment and instruction, watching the canyon open up as you descend. Once you reach the bottom, the tour moves to Montaña de Fuego Resort's hot springs, where you soak in naturally heated water after the adrenaline settles. Bring clothes and shoes that can get wet—Crocs or backstrap sandals work best—and consider a waterproof camera if you have one. The whole experience takes about 2 hours from start to finish.
A live guide in English leads the group through the platforms and rappel, and you'll also visit Maleku Village as part of the tour. Arrive at least 15 minutes early; the tour starts on time. The maximum weight limit is 225 pounds (110 kilos), and children as young as 7 can participate. The activity is not recommended for anyone with spinal injuries.
