The Experience
The day starts with a safety briefing and a short driving test before you head out on a modern ATV. You'll ride approximately 28 km through mountainous terrain and open prairie on a private farm, with Arenal Volcano visible the whole way. The route takes about two hours, and the guide sets the pace so you can take in the landscape without rushing through it.
After the ride, you move to the zipline course at Arenal Canopy Adventure. The circuit has 8 cables and 13 platforms, with some stretching up to 600 meters long and reaching heights of 90 meters. You'll be harnessed and briefed on each section before you clip in, and the guide walks you through the mechanics so you know what to expect. If you want more after the main course, there's a Tarzan Swing option available—a pendulum drop designed for people chasing the biggest adrenaline hit.
An air-conditioned vehicle brings you to both sites, and the operator provides bottled water and snacks throughout the day. The whole experience runs about four hours from start to finish. You'll need a valid driver's license for the ATV portion, and the harness is sized for a maximum waist width of 4.2 feet.
