The experience
The day starts at Llanos del Cortés waterfall, then moves into the tropical forest for a short walk where the guide points out wildlife as it appears: white-faced and howler monkeys, toucans, sloths, small frogs in different colors, and butterflies. What you see depends on the day and the time of year, but the guide knows where to look and what calls to listen for. The pace is built for observation, not distance.
Lunch is a traditional Costa Rican meal served after the forest walk, not at a tourist restaurant. It is part of the rhythm of the day. Bottled water comes with you throughout. An air-conditioned vehicle handles the transport between stops, and the guide meets you at your hotel in the morning and brings you back when the six hours are done.

Is this one for you?Small groups work best for spotting wildlife in the forest, since the guide can move at the pace the animals set and pause when something appears. If you want a morning or afternoon focused on nature and animals rather than a town-based tour, this six-hour format fits the day without dominating it.
