The experience
The day starts with paperwork and a gear check on shore. You'll get a dive briefing that covers the sites and what to expect, then head to the boat for the ride out to the first location. Two dives happen back-to-back with a break between them at two different Catalina Island sites, so you're seeing different underwater terrain and marine life rather than repeating the same spot. All scuba equipment is provided (tank, regulator, BCD, wetsuit), and a guide leads both dives.
The whole outing runs about 7 hours from start to finish. Pickup is included, so you don't arrange transport to the departure point. Soda, bottled water and snacks are on hand between dives and on the boat ride back. You'll be back on shore around midday, which leaves the rest of your day open.
This dive is only for people who already hold a certification card. If you're new to diving or need a refresher, you'd need a different product. This one assumes you know how to use the gear and read a dive computer. TamaDive emphasizes safety and personalized attention, so the guide adjusts the pace and depth to the group's comfort level rather than pushing a fixed itinerary.
