ATV Riding in Guanacaste: Jungle Trails & Secluded Beaches
Three hours of jungle terrain, river crossings, and a final dip in the sea
Ride a single or double ATV through Guanacaste's jungle trails, mountain roads and river crossings, guided in English or Spanish. You navigate the terrain yourself (not a sightseeing tour where someone else drives), and finish at two secluded beaches on the northern coast, where you swim to cool off after the ride.

Step-by-step itinerary
Off-road tour and beach visits
- Navigate Costa Rican jungle trails
- Traverse roads, trails, and mountains
- Visit two secluded beaches
- Swim at the final beach
The experience
You operate the ATV or buggy the whole time. The certified bilingual guide leads the route through the Costa Rican jungle, across roads, trails and mountains, and through rivers and puddles (depending on the season). The ride covers terrain most visitors don't reach, working toward two secluded beaches on the northern coast where the day ends. At the final beach you get in the water to recover from the ride.
The operator offers single ATVs (you ride alone) and double ATVs (two riders per machine), with group sizes ranging from two to fourteen people depending on which option you book. A guide who speaks both English and Spanish leads the whole group, so language is not a barrier. The ride takes about three hours from start to finish.
What’s included
- Certified bilingual guide leading the route.
- ATV or buggy usage for the full three hours.
- access to the two secluded beaches and the final swim.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English and Spanish.
What kind of terrain does the ATV route actually cover?
The route crosses jungle trails, mountain roads, rivers and puddles, working through lesser-explored sections of Guanacaste's northern coast. In the rainy season you'll encounter more water crossings. In the dry season the terrain is firmer.
Do I ride the ATV myself, or does a guide drive while I sit as a passenger?
You operate the ATV or buggy yourself the entire time. The guide leads the group and navigates the route, but you control your own machine.
What happens at the two beaches at the end of the ride?
Both beaches are secluded and sit on the northern coast. At the final beach you can swim in the sea to cool off after the ride. The water is the main reward after three hours on the machine.
Can I ride a double ATV with someone else, or do I have to go solo?
Double ATVs seat two riders per machine, so you can share one with a travel partner. Single ATVs are also available if you prefer to ride alone. The option you choose at checkout determines your machine type and the group size.
