Step-by-step itinerary
Off-road buggy adventure in Guanacaste
- Meet guide with company sign
- Wear helmet and safety strap
- Drive ATV or UTV through forest trails
- Cross mountains, rivers, and puddles
- Visit beautiful beaches
- Observe local wildlife along the way
The experience
This is not a sightseeing tour where someone else drives. You operate the ATV or UTV yourself through forest roads, mountain terrain, river crossings and beach stretches. The route takes roughly two and a half hours and covers trails deep enough that in the rainy season you'll ford through water and mud, so come ready to get dirty. A guide rides with the group and leads the way, speaking English or Spanish.
Wildlife sightings happen naturally along the route: monkeys, iguanas, armadillos and birds move through the forest you're driving through. The Gold Coast terrain opens onto views of the North Pacific, and the ride finishes on beach sections that close out the afternoon. Helmets and reflective safety straps are required gear. The operator may cancel if heavy rain or lightning makes conditions unsafe.
Pickup is included if you arrange it in advance by note when you book. Bottled water and fruit come along. If you're staying without a car or outside the immediate area, confirm the pickup details before your departure date, as the operator will identify themselves by company sign and send you the meeting specifics by message.

Do I need off-road riding experience to book this ATV activity?
No. The activity suits all physical fitness levels, and the guide leads the route so you follow their pace and line. First-time riders are welcome.
What happens if it rains on the day of my ATV ride?
In the rainy season, expect to ride through rivers, puddles and muddy sections. That's part of the experience. However, the guide may cancel the tour if heavy rain or lightning creates unsafe conditions, and you'll be notified before departure.
