Step-by-step itinerary

Coffee and chocolate tasting tour

  • Introduction and first coffee tasting
  • Walk through Quinta Camacho neighborhood
  • Second specialty coffee tasting
  • Chocolate tasting at artisanal store

The Experience

You start at a specialty coffee shop in Chapinero, Bogota's hipster neighborhood, where the guide introduces you to the world of Colombian coffee. The first tasting happens here—you'll taste specialty coffees grown in different regions of Colombia, discovering the flavor notes that have made Colombian coffee famous worldwide. It's not abstract: you're tasting the difference between regions in the cup.

From there, you walk through Quinta Camacho, an English-style neighborhood full of period architecture, while the guide explains its history. The second coffee tasting happens at another specialty shop, deepening what you learned at the first stop. Then you reach an artisanal chocolate factory, where you taste chocolates made with cacao from different Colombian regions. The same regional variation you found in the coffee shows up in the chocolate—each one tastes distinct because of where the cacao was grown.

A live guide in English or Spanish leads the whole activity, which takes about two hours. You can choose between a coffee-only tasting or the full coffee-and-chocolate experience at checkout. Service animals are welcome, and public transportation options are nearby if you need them.

Top questions

What's the difference between the two coffee tastings in this activity?

Both happen at specialty coffee shops in Chapinero, but at different locations. The first introduces you to Colombian coffee and regional varieties; the second deepens that knowledge at a second shop, so you're comparing and learning across two stops instead of tasting in one place.

Can I do just the coffee tasting, or is chocolate included?

You choose at checkout: the Specialty Coffee tasting option includes both coffee tastings but skips the chocolate factory, while the Coffee and Chocolate option includes all three tastings—two coffees and one chocolate.

What is Quinta Camacho like?

Quinta Camacho is an English-style neighborhood in Bogota known for its period architecture and distinctive houses. You walk through it between the second coffee shop and the chocolate factory, and the guide explains its history as you go.

Is this activity suitable if I'm not very fit?

Yes—the activity is suitable for all physical fitness levels. It involves walking between neighborhoods and standing while you taste, but there's no climbing, hiking or strenuous movement.

What's the minimum age for this tasting activity?

The minimum age is 16. Participants under that age are not able to join.

How long does the whole activity take?

The activity runs about two hours from start to finish, including both coffee tastings, the walk through Quinta Camacho, and the chocolate tasting at the factory.
