The tour begins with pickup from your Zhangjiajie hotel, airport or railway station. Your guide takes you to Tianmen Mountain, which the operator describes as the soul of Zhangjiajie and the highest peak in the region. The cable car ride from the city center takes about 30 minutes and is the longest in the world. At the summit, the landscape opens to graceful ancient trees, karst hillocks and roads carved into the cliff face. You'll walk the Glass Skywalk for views of Heaven's Gate and navigate the famous 999 Bend Road, a series of switchbacks that descend the mountainside.

The tour splits into two options at checkout. The daytime version runs during the day and includes access to Tianmen Mountain's main attractions. If you book the night tour, the schedule shifts to afternoon departure so you arrive at the summit as darkness falls and the mountain lights come on. After the illuminated views, you visit the 72 Tujia Stilted Building, a cultural site celebrating Zhangjiajie's architectural heritage, which also has its own evening light display. The night option adds this cultural stop and the lit landscape experience. The daytime tour skips both.

Transport includes two cable cars and a shuttle bus to move between levels and attractions. Two escalators help with the terrain. The tour lasts 6 to 8 hours depending on your pace and which option you choose. Your private English guide stays with you throughout. Note that Tianmen Mountain offers three ticket routes (A, B and C). If you book at least five days ahead, the operator will secure route A or B, though holiday periods sell out quickly and route C may be assigned to guarantee entry.
