The Experience

Lake Todos los Santos sits at the center of the day—a turquoise expanse ringed by native forest and backed by Osorno Volcano. The lake sits 189 meters above sea level and reaches 337 meters deep. If you want a higher vantage, chairlifts are available at an extra cost. The drive there moves through the Valdivian Andean forest, and the guide travels with you the whole way, speaking English, Spanish or Portuguese depending on your preference.

Petrohué Waterfalls come next—the chilly Petrohué River flows between Todos los Santos Lake and Llanquihue Lake, and the falls themselves rank among the most visited spots in the Chilean Lake District. You walk to the falls and stand in front of them; the river and the landscape around it are the draw. The tour includes a stop at Laguna Verde, one of the forty craters that make up Osorno Volcano, where the water turns an intense green. From there, a viewpoint overlooks Llanquihue Lake, and if the timing works, you might spot a herd of foxes that live in the area.
