The experience
You start with a country breakfast at a local horse breeder's property while the horses are saddled. You can saddle your own if you want the hands-on part. Then the ride begins: you cross the Maipo River, navigate through vineyard rows, climb to hilltop views, and stop to drink from clean streams. The guide sets the pace and points out the landscape, but the riding itself is what fills the morning. By midday you're at an open-fire grill site where the cook prepares a country meal and you drink wine while the fire burns.
After lunch comes the winery visit. Miraflores is an organic operation, and the guide walks you through the vineyard rows, the old estate house, and the cellar, explaining how minimal intervention in the grape cultivation produces the quality you're about to taste. You'll see some of the original winemaking equipment and taste a Cabernet Sauvignon. The whole experience sits inside a nine-hour window that includes the drive from your Santiago hotel and back.

Top questions
What languages is the guide in?
Live guide in English, Spanish, French and Portuguese.
What's the riding like if I haven't been on a horse in years?
The route follows vineyard trails and river crossings at a pace the guide sets for the group. Suitable for all fitness levels according to the operator, though the minimum age is 14 and riders with spinal injuries or poor cardiovascular health should check before booking.
Do I need to bring my own helmet or gear?
The operator provides what you need for the ride. Dress for outdoor weather, the tour runs in all conditions, and bring layers since you'll be moving between sun and shade in the vineyards.
Is the wine tasting included, or do I pay extra?
Wine tasting at Miraflores is included in the price. The Cabernet Sauvignon tasting happens after the cellar tour, and souvenir photos are available to purchase if you want them.
How does the breakfast work before we ride?
Breakfast is a country meal at the horse breeder's property where the horses are being prepared. You eat first, then help saddle if you choose, so there's no rush before the ride starts.
