Step-by-step itinerary
Night sky observation in Atacama Desert
- Open air chat beneath the stars
- Photographic session with Milky Way
- Observe stellar objects through telescopes
- Enjoy cocktail and snack under stars
The experience
The telescopes are set up in the desert where light pollution is nonexistent: the kind of dark sky where the Milky Way casts actual shadows on the ground. You arrive by private transport from San Pedro and begin with a talk about what you're about to see: the structure of the sky, how to read the constellations, what galaxies and nebulae actually are. Then the guide points the telescopes at 8-10 objects across the night (star clusters, distant galaxies, the rings of nebulae), and walks you through each one. A professional photographer captures panoramic shots of you framed against the Milky Way, both individual and couple portraits, delivered to you digitally and in print.
The session runs about two and a half hours. You'll need the blankets and gloves provided. The desert at night is cold. Toward the end, as your eyes adjust fully and the guide finishes the explanations, you settle in with a snack and a glass of wine, still looking up. The quiet is part of it: silence reigns in the desert, and there's no ambient noise to break the sense of scale. Private transport brings you back to San Pedro when it's done.
