Set your own pace from the West Bay Yacht Club with snacks and stingray treats onboard

Stingray City snorkeling on a private boat departing West Bay Yacht Club, where you swim with stingrays, then choose the order of stops at Starfish Point and Rum Point. The boat is yours alone, so the captain adjusts the route and timing to what you want; a safety briefing happens before you enter the water, and snorkel gear is provided. Lunch and gratuities are not included.

Step-by-step itinerary

Private boat tour with snorkeling stops

  • Board private boat at West Bay Yacht Club
  • Receive safety briefing from captain
  • Swim with stingrays at Stingray City
  • Snorkel at Starfish Point
  • Snorkel and relax at Rum Point
  • Explore Barrier Reef or Coral Gardens

The Experience

The boat leaves from the newly renovated West Bay Yacht Club, so you skip the crowded tour docks and start from a quieter marina. Once aboard, the captain gives a safety briefing, then you decide which stop comes first—Stingray City, Starfish Point, Rum Point, or the Barrier Reef. Because it's your private boat, the order and timing bend to what you want instead of a fixed itinerary.

Stingray City is the centerpiece: you wade into shallow water where stingrays glide past and around you, and the captain brings food to draw them closer. The water is calm and the rays are accustomed to swimmers, so this is a moment most people come to Grand Cayman for. After that, Starfish Point puts you in clear water where red cushion starfish cover the seabed, and the reef life is dense enough that you'll spot conch and lobsters. Rum Point offers a reef snorkel with a bar and restaurant on shore if you want to eat or drink between stops.

Snorkel gear is included, along with bottled water and snacks for the boat. The captain and crew speak English and Spanish. The whole outing runs three to four hours, which is long enough to hit multiple stops without the day becoming a marathon.

What’s included

  • Snorkel gear.
  • bottled water and snacks.
  • food for the stingrays.
  • a live guide who speaks English and Spanish.
  • use of the private boat for the full outing.

Is this one for you?The boat departs West Bay Yacht Club, so if you're staying in Seven Mile Beach or downtown and don't have a rental car, you get to a major snorkeling site without arranging your own transport—and once you're aboard, the captain builds the day around what you want to see instead of herding a group through a fixed schedule.

Top questions

What is Stingray City like when you get there?

Stingray City is a shallow sandbar where stingrays gather and swim close to people. You wade in and the rays pass nearby; the captain brings food to encourage them closer, so you get to observe and photograph them in their natural behavior without chasing them.

Can I choose which snorkeling spots to visit?

Yes. After the safety briefing, you tell the captain which stops you want and in what order—Stingray City, Starfish Point, Rum Point, or the Barrier Reef. Because the boat is private, the itinerary is yours to set.

Is snorkel gear provided, or do I need to bring my own?

Snorkel gear is included with the booking. The captain provides masks, fins and snorkels, so you don't need to pack or rent them separately.

What happens if I don't want to snorkel at every stop?

You're in control. Some travelers swim at Stingray City and skip the reef stops, or vice versa. The captain works with what you want to do, and you can stay on the boat at any stop if you prefer to watch instead.

Does the price include lunch or drinks?

Bottled water and snacks are included on the boat. Lunch is not included, though Rum Point has a restaurant and bar on shore where you can order food if you want to eat during the outing.

How long does the whole experience take?

The outing runs three to four hours from departure to return, which gives you time to visit multiple stops and spend a meaningful amount of time in the water at each one without rushing.
