The experience
If you have a free afternoon and want to do something no other visitor on the island is doing, this is it. You'll travel to a private apiary where a local beekeeper walks you through the full setup: full protective gear goes on first, then you open a live hive and step into the actual work. This isn't a demonstration you watch from a distance. You handle the frames yourself, spot the queen and the workers, and see how thousands of bees organize around the honey production. The guide stays with you the whole time, answering questions and pointing out what's happening in real time.
The small group size, capped at four people per booking, means you're not standing in a line waiting your turn. You get hands-on time with the hive, and the beekeeper can adjust the pace to what you're comfortable with. The protective suits have triple-layer ventilated protection, which keeps the bees from reaching you with their stingers. Since honey bees die after they sting, they're not interested in it. The whole session runs about 90 minutes, and you leave with a bottle of fresh honey you harvested yourself, plus water and light refreshments.
Pickup and drop-off from your meeting point are included, so you don't need to arrange transport. Wear comfortable light clothing and sneakers under the suit. Participants must be at least 10 years old (those under 18 need a parent or guardian), and the experience isn't recommended for pregnant travelers or anyone with poor cardiovascular health or spinal injuries.

Top questions
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What exactly do I do during the beekeeping experience?
You suit up in full protective gear, open a live hive, handle bee frames, spot different members of the colony, and harvest a sample of fresh honey directly from the comb under the beekeeper's guidance. It's a fully interactive experience, not a passive tour.
How long does the apiary tour take?
The experience runs approximately 90 minutes from start to finish, including the setup, hive work, and harvest.
What's the minimum age to participate?
Participants must be at least 10 years old. Anyone between 10 and 17 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
How many people can go on one tour?
A maximum of four people per booking keeps the group small and intimate. A minimum of two people is required to run a tour, though private tours for larger groups can be arranged separately.
Will I get stung?
It's highly unlikely. The bee suits provide triple-layer ventilated protection that prevents bees from reaching you with their stingers. Honey bees die after they sting, so they avoid it whenever possible.
What should I wear?
Wear comfortable light clothing and sneakers. The full protective suit goes on over your clothes, so nothing heavy or restrictive underneath.
