The experience

The tour starts with pickup from your hotel in George Town or Seven Mile Beach, then heads to North Side where the caves sit inside a lush tropical forest. Once you arrive, you walk through the forest canopy before descending into the first of three chambers. Inside, the guide walks you through the geology: how single drops of water, falling over thousands of years, built the stalactites hanging from the ceiling and the stalagmites rising from the floor. The air-conditioned vehicle gets you there and back, and you skip the line at the entrance.

The forest itself is part of the experience. Strangler balsam trees tower overhead, air plants cling to branches, and bats live inside the caves. Your guide shares how these elements connect: why the bats are there, what the plants need to survive in this environment, how the cave system formed. The walking tour moves at a steady pace through all three chambers, and the guide provides live commentary throughout. Wear comfortable footwear. The ground is uneven and there are steps down into the caves.

The whole outing takes 3.5 hours from pickup to drop-off. A minimum of four people per booking is required.
