The Experience
The tour starts at the Vancouver Art Gallery and moves through neighborhoods where Deadpool, Fifty Shades of Grey, The X-Files, The Interview, The Flash and Night Agent all filmed scenes. Your guide is a local actor who knows the production stories behind each location—which directors worked here, how long shoots lasted, what got left on the cutting room floor. At each stop, you'll see the actual street corner or building where a scene happened, then watch the finished clip on the guide's tablet so you can match the real place to what made it onto screen.
The route takes you through Chinatown's historic Shanghai alley and under the neighborhood's arches, then into Gastown where you'll see Blood Alley and the Steam Clock—a landmark that's appeared in multiple productions. If the timing works out, you might catch the clock chime. The Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden is included (subject to group size and day), and you'll pass Waterfront Station, where the guide shares both film trivia and Vancouver history. The pace is leisurely with breaks built in; you're walking for three hours total but not constantly moving.
Your guide speaks English and carries the tablet with video clips, so you're not relying on memory or imagination to connect the location to the film. The tour is wheelchair accessible, and strollers work for infants and small children. You can bring service animals. Public transit stops are nearby if you need to step out early, though the full three hours is designed to hold together as one arc through the city.
What’s included
Local actor guide with tablet containing video clips from each filming location; entry to Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden (subject to group size and day).
Operated by Storyboard Experiences (Vancouver)
Is this one for you?Small groups work best for this tour since the guide uses a single tablet to show clips—you'll need to gather close enough to see the screen at each stop. It's ideal if you're a film fan or someone who loves exploring neighborhoods through the stories behind them, rather than a fast-paced highlights sprint.
