The experience
Eight to eleven hours covers five separate lakes spread across Banff and Yoho National Parks, each one a stop where you get out and walk. Lake Louise is first: an hour by the turquoise glacial water with the Fairmont hotel and mountain peaks as the backdrop, and the lakeshore trail gives you the angles for photos. Moraine Lake follows (June through October only), known for its vivid blue and ringed by the Valley of the Ten Peaks. The Rockpile Trail climbs for panoramic views. When Moraine Lake is closed in winter, the tour substitutes Bow Falls and Lake Louise Village instead.
Emerald Lake in Yoho National Park has striking emerald-green water and a picturesque wooden bridge that appears in almost every photo taken there. Just before it sits Natural Bridge, a limestone arch carved by the Kicking Horse River over thousands of years: a short stop to see the river flowing underneath. The day ends with Peyto Lake and Bow Lake, both glacier-fed and serene, strung along the Icefields Parkway with mountain reflections in the water.
You choose your pickup location at checkout: Calgary, Canmore, or Banff. The guide is local and speaks English. Transport is air-conditioned. Winter visitors should bring or rent crampons for icy sections (provided, used at your own responsibility). Pack your own lunch or grab something at the Fairmont Café at Lake Louise. The route is subject to change for weather, closures or traffic, and if your drop-off differs from pickup or you're bringing luggage, contact the operator at least three days ahead.
Is this one for you?Choose your pickup location (Calgary, Canmore, or Banff) based on where you're staying, and the guide meets you there. The eight to eleven hour span lets you see five separate lakes without rushing through any single stop, though it means an early start and a full day in the parks.
