The experience
Day one stays in Phnom Penh. Your driver picks you up at 8:30 AM and takes you to the Royal Palace, where an official palace guide walks you through the grand halls and explains the architecture and history. After about an hour there, you move to Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, the former school converted into a Khmer Rouge prison, where your guide contextualizes the exhibits and survivor accounts. The tour then heads 10 kilometers south to Choeung Ek Genocidal Center, the Killing Fields, for an hour of guided reflection on this site's role in Cambodia's recent past. You break for lunch, then visit Phnom Penh Central Market, a colonial-era building where you can browse local handicrafts, textiles and silk, before ending at Wat Phnom, the hilltop temple that marks the city's founding.
Day two is the transfer to Siem Reap. Your driver collects you at 7:00 AM and after about ninety minutes stops at the spider market, where locals sell insects like spiders, crickets and scorpions alongside other goods. The drive continues for roughly two hours to Sambor Prei Kuk in Kampong Thom province, where a local guide takes you through the pre-Angkorian temple complex, explaining the carvings and historical significance of the ruins. Before reaching Siem Reap, you visit Kampong Phluk, a floating village on Tonle Sap Lake where stilted houses rise above the water and you can watch fishing and trading in the traditional Cambodian way.
Day three is devoted to the Angkor temple complex. Your driver and guide take you first to Angkor Wat, the 12th-century Hindu temple and the largest in the world, where you spend about two hours exploring the towers, corridors and carvings. Next is Bayon Temple, famous for the serene stone faces carved into its towers, followed by lunch at a restaurant near Srah Srang. After eating, you visit Ta Prohm, the "Tomb Raider Temple" covered in giant tree roots and jungle growth. The day ends at Banteay Srei, the "Citadel of Women," a smaller temple outside the main complex known for its pink sandstone and intricate mythological carvings.

Top questions
What is included in the 3-day tour price?
All three days of temple and museum entry tickets, private guide in English, air-conditioned vehicle with driver, mineral water and cold towels, and car insurance are included. Lunch is not included, so you'll eat at restaurants along the route.
What time does the tour start each day?
Day one begins with pickup at 8:30 AM from your hotel in Phnom Penh city center. Day two starts at 7:00 AM for the transfer to Siem Reap. Day three timing depends on your request, but your driver collects you from your Siem Reap hotel to begin the Angkor temple circuit.
How long is the drive from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap?
The journey takes most of day two, with stops at the spider market after about ninety minutes and then at Sambor Prei Kuk temple complex, which is roughly two hours further. You'll also visit Kampong Phluk floating village before arriving in Siem Reap.
Can I bring young children on this tour?
Yes, infants and small children can ride in a pram or stroller, and specialized infant seats are available in the vehicle. The tour is suitable for all physical fitness levels, though the days involve walking through temples and museums.
What makes Ta Prohm different from the other Angkor temples?
Ta Prohm is covered in giant tree roots and lush jungle growth, creating a mysterious atmosphere that has made it famous as the "Tomb Raider Temple." The other temples (Angkor Wat, Bayon and Banteay Srei) are more exposed, allowing you to see their architecture and carvings clearly.
Is the spider market a required stop, or can I skip it?
The spider market is part of the day-two route between Phnom Penh and Siem Reap. It appears in the standard itinerary, though you can discuss any adjustments with your guide when you book.
