The experience
You're picked up from your hotel and driven through Bandar Seri Begawan to the Royal Regalia Museum first, where the collection centers on the Sultan's ceremonial jewels: the encrusted crown and other symbols of Brunei's monarchy. From there the tour moves to the Istana Nurul Iman for a photo stop. It's the world's largest residential palace. The Malay Technology Museum comes next, a gallery displaying the lifestyles and crafts of Malays and ethnic tribes across Brunei.
The Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddin Mosque is considered one of Southeast Asia's most beautiful, and the tour includes time to see it. Kampong Ayer, known as the "Venice of East," is the world's largest water village: a cluster of traditional stilt houses built on the Brunei River. The final stop is the Jame'Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque, the country's largest mosque, built in honor of the current Sultan and completed in the late 20th century. The tour ends with a return to your hotel.
An air-conditioned vehicle and professional guide are included throughout. Light refreshment is provided. The guide may adjust the route or reduce stops depending on weather, road conditions, or tidal changes affecting access to Kampong Ayer. Note that mosques and museums are closed on Fridays. Non-Muslim visitors cannot enter mosques on Thursdays and Fridays either.
