Private Powerboat Tour Tortola: Customizable BVI Cruise
Powerboat, captain, and your itinerary: island bars, anchorages, a day
A private powerboat tour in Tortola puts you and your group on a sleek, fast boat with an experienced captain for 5.5 hours, stopping where you want (Soggy Dollar Bar on Jost Van Dyke, Foxy's beach bar, and the floating Willy T) with swimming, snorkeling, and the option to eat and drink ashore. The boat beaches in shallow coves other tours can't reach and moves at your pace, not a schedule.

The experience
You're not following a set route or a timetable. The captain knows the reefs, the anchorages, and the bars, but you decide which ones matter. Want to spend three hours at Soggy Dollar Bar sipping Painkillers in the shallows, or skip it and head straight to Foxy's for live music? The powerboat goes where you point it. It draws shallow enough to beach itself on white sand where bigger boats anchor offshore, and it's fast enough to cover ground between stops without eating up your day.
Soggy Dollar Bar sits on a white-sand beach on Jost Van Dyke's north shore. The bar is famous for the Painkiller cocktail, and you can swim straight from the boat into clear water. Foxy's, also on Jost Van Dyke, is a legendary beach bar with live music and island food. Willy T is a floating bar anchored in the Sir Francis Drake Channel. You can dive off the deck and mingle with other boats' passengers. All three are working bars and restaurants. Drinks and food cost money and are not included, so bring cash or a card, or pack your own lunch and eat on the boat.
The captain, fuel, lifejackets for adults and children, and government fees are included. The tour runs 5.5 hours, and you pick either the 8am–2pm slot (for cruise ship guests with a tight turnaround) or the 8am–1pm option (for hotel and villa guests). Infants sit on an adult's lap. The boat is not suitable for travelers with spinal injuries. Gratuities are not included.

Is this one for you?Choose the 8am–2pm slot if you're on a cruise ship with a fixed departure time. The 8am–1pm option gives hotel and villa guests a full morning and early afternoon without the rush back to port. Either way, a private boat means no strangers on board and no schedule but your own.

Top questions
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
Can I choose which bars and beaches to visit, or is the route fixed?
You choose. The captain will take you to Soggy Dollar Bar, Foxy's, Willy T, or any other stop you prefer within the British Virgin Islands. The powerboat's speed and shallow draft mean you can reach places bigger tour boats cannot, and the itinerary is yours to set.
What is Soggy Dollar Bar, and why do people go there?
Soggy Dollar Bar is a beachfront bar on Jost Van Dyke known for the Painkiller cocktail. You can swim from the boat into shallow, clear water and order drinks and food at the bar. It's a popular stop on island tours, and the name comes from the old practice of swimming ashore with cash in hand.
Is lunch included in the price?
Lunch is not included. You can eat at any of the bars you visit (Soggy Dollar Bar, Foxy's, and Willy T all serve food), or bring your own food and eat on the boat. Drinks at the bars are also not included and can be purchased when you stop.
How long is the tour, and what time does it start?
The tour runs 5.5 hours. You can book the 8am–2pm departure (designed for cruise ship guests) or the 8am–1pm departure (for hotel and villa guests). Both start at 8am and end at either 1pm or 2pm depending on which option you choose.
What is included in the price?
The private powerboat, an experienced captain, fuel, lifejackets for adults and children, and government fees are all included. Lunch, drinks, gratuities, and any food or beverages at the bars are not included in the price.
