The experience

You board either the 32-foot NautiGal or the 30-foot Grady White: twin Yamaha engines, room for a small group, and a captain who knows the anchorages. The boat picks you up from your hotel and heads straight to White Bay on Jost Van Dyke, where Soggy Dollar Bay sits right on the sand. You swim in clear water, grab a drink at one of the beachfront bars, and stay as long as you want. The day has no fixed schedule.

From there the boat crosses to Norman Island. The beach at Pirates Bight is where you're most likely to see turtles in the shallows before you snorkel out to the caves: a short swim that opens into rock formations you explore underwater. Back on the boat, the cooler stays stocked with water, sodas, beer and Truly seltzers at no extra charge. Anything else you want, the captain can pick up for you.

The final stop is the Willy T, a floating bar anchored offshore where you climb aboard, order a drink, and if you're game, walk the plank into the water. The boat heads back to your hotel as the afternoon winds down. Because the itinerary is yours to shape (linger longer at one island, skip another, adjust the timing), you're not following a fixed route. You're chartering a boat and a captain who adapts to what you want the day to be.
