The experience
The charter departs Tortola and heads straight to Norman Island, where three sea caves carved into rocky cliffs open onto shallow snorkeling grounds. The walls here are covered in orange cup coral and red sponges, with tropical fish moving through the water column. The caves themselves carry pirate lore, they inspired Treasure Island, but what matters is the clarity of the water and the density of marine life you'll see without going deep.
From there, the boat moves to The Baths on Virgin Gorda, a geological formation of massive smooth granite boulders that create hidden grottoes and sunlit rock pools. You swim between the rocks and explore the pools. The water stays shallow and the setting is unlike any reef snorkel. A stop at White Bay on Jost Van Dyke follows, a long crescent of soft white sand where the water is calm enough to wade far out. By midday, the charter pulls up to Soggy Dollar Bar, a floating establishment famous for the Painkiller cocktail and for the tradition of swimming ashore from the boat, hence the name.
The boat carries water toys, snorkeling gear, and a full bar: sparkling and bottled water, Coors Light, Corona, High Noon, Heineken, Coke and Sprite. A live guide in English narrates the stops and manages the day. The itinerary can vary (half-day, full-day, sunset, and water-taxi options exist), but the core snorkeling happens at the same sites, and the eight-hour full circle tour packs the most of them into a single departure.

Is this one for you?Choose the full-day tour if you want to see both the sea caves and The Baths in one departure. The half-day option covers fewer stops but fits a tighter schedule. The eight-hour itinerary is built for swimmers and snorkelers with moderate fitness who can handle a full day on the water, not for travelers with spinal injuries or cardiovascular concerns.
