Step-by-step itinerary

  • Hike through The Baths' granite boulders

  • Explore hidden pools and sandy passageways
  • Snorkel in calm turquoise waters
  • Relax or have lunch at Cooper Island Beach Club
  • Swim and snorkel in scenic bay

The experience

The Baths is a maze of giant boulders that create tunnels, pools and passageways right at the shoreline. Your guide takes you through the famous Cathedral (a natural chamber formed by the rocks), and shows you where to swim and snorkel among the formations. The water is clear enough to see the rock shapes underwater, and the whole exploration takes you through both above-water hiking and in-water swimming, so you're moving between the two the whole time you're there.

After The Baths, the boat moves to either Cooper Island or Peter Island. Both have calm turquoise water for a second swim or snorkel, and both have beaches where you can rest. Cooper Island has the Cooper Island Beach Club, a beachfront restaurant with ocean views where you can order lunch and drinks at your own expense. Peter Island is quieter. Just the water, the sand and the hills behind it. The choice between them often depends on the day's conditions and what your guide recommends.

The whole outing runs six hours. You get snorkeling gear, a cooler with ice for your own drinks, bottled water and snacks. Your guide speaks English or Spanish. Private transportation is included, which means the boat and guide are yours alone: no other travelers, no fixed schedule beyond the six-hour window, and the pace moves at what works for your group.

Top questions

What languages is the tour guided in?

Live guide in English and Spanish.

What happens if it rains?

It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.

What is the Cathedral at The Baths?

The Cathedral is a natural chamber formed by massive granite boulders stacked together at the water's edge. You hike into it and swim inside the pool it creates, surrounded by the rock walls and openings that let light filter through.

Do I need snorkeling experience to go?

No. The guide leads the snorkeling session and shows you where to go in the water. Snorkeling gear is provided, and the water at both The Baths and the island stops is calm and clear.

Can I bring my own food or drinks?

You can bring your own drinks and store them in the cooler with ice that's available on the boat. Food and drinks at the island restaurants are at your own expense, so you can order there or bring snacks to eat on the beach.

What's the difference between Cooper Island and Peter Island?

Cooper Island has the Cooper Island Beach Club restaurant where you can order lunch and drinks. Peter Island is more remote and peaceful, with no restaurant. Just the beach and water. Your guide will recommend which one based on conditions that day.

Is this tour suitable if I'm not a strong swimmer?

The snorkeling happens in calm, clear water, and your guide is with you. The hike through The Baths involves some climbing over rocks and swimming between them, so a basic comfort in water helps, but the pace is set by your group.
