The experience
You're picked up and driven to Cane Garden Bay, one of the most beloved beaches in the British Virgin Islands. You swim in the turquoise water, walk the white sand, and grab a local cocktail at one of the beachfront bars. The "I LOVE BVI" sign is there if you want the photo. From there the guide takes you inland to Bamboo Meadows, a private property that only opened to the public two years ago. The hike into the heart of the meadow is short and unhurried. The guide explains the local plants and animals as you go, and the path itself is the point: quiet and grounded in a way the beach is not.
The Callwood distillery is the oldest in the archipelago. The Callwood family has been making Caribbean rum the exact same way for over 200 years, and the tour walks you through that history: how sugar cane became rum, what the daily work looked like for the people who built it, and how the process has stayed unchanged. You taste rums of different ages. Then you drive to Carrot Bay, a village tucked away from the main roads, where a local restaurant serves the dishes Tortolans actually eat: generous portions, a long menu of island food, the kind of place cruise passengers don't find on their own. The guide also builds in stops for scenery and a dessert run at one of the best ice cream shops on the island.

Top questions
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Youth (8 to 17 years); Child (3 to 7 years); Infant (under 3).
What is Bamboo Meadows and why is it only recently open to visitors?
Bamboo Meadows is a private property in Tortola that opened to the public just two years ago. The guided hike takes you into the heart of the meadow through a quiet path where the guide points out local flora and fauna. It's designed around the calm and grounded feeling of being in nature rather than a strenuous trek.
Can I taste rum at the Callwood distillery?
Yes. The Callwood distillery tour includes tastings of rums at different ages. The distillery has been making rum the same way for over 200 years, and the tour covers that history and the early working life of the people who built it.
Where do I eat lunch, and what kind of food is it?
Lunch is at a local restaurant in Carrot Bay, a village away from the main tourist areas. The menu features authentic island dishes that Tortolans eat: generous servings and an extensive list of local specialties you won't find at resort restaurants.
Is transportation included in the tour price?
Yes, pickup is included. The guide drives you to each stop: Cane Garden Bay, Bamboo Meadows, the Callwood distillery, Carrot Bay for lunch, and scenic lookout points around the British Virgin Islands, plus a stop for ice cream.
What should I bring or wear for this tour?
Bring swimwear and a towel for Cane Garden Bay. The Bamboo Meadows hike is short and on a calm path, so regular walking shoes or sandals work. Sunscreen and a hat are useful for the beach and the open stops around the island.
Is this tour suitable if I'm not in great shape?
The tour works for all fitness levels. The Bamboo Meadows hike is gentle and designed around serenity rather than exertion. It is not recommended for travelers with poor cardiovascular health, but otherwise the pace is relaxed across all four hours.
