The experience

The tour runs four hours and covers two of Tortola's most-visited snorkeling bays. You travel by private transportation along the island's coastal road, then slip into the water at Smuggler's Cove to explore the reef before moving on to Cane Garden Bay, where the waves stay gentler and the beach opens onto shops and restaurants. The pace is built around time in the water and time on the sand. You're not rushed between stops.

Snorkel equipment comes with you. Soft drinks and fresh fruit are provided in a cooler. After the water, you can stay on the beach at Cane Garden Bay to swim in the shallows, walk the shoreline, or sit under the sun. If you want lunch or a drink with alcohol, the beachfront cafés are there, but you order and pay separately. Video of your snorkeling is captured and given to you at the end.

The guide speaks English or Spanish and travels with the group throughout. Pickup is included in the price, and beach chairs are available during your time on the sand.

What languages is the tour guided in?

Live guide in English and Spanish.

What happens if it rains?

It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.

What's the water like at Smuggler's Cove and Cane Garden Bay?

Both bays have clear water and coral reefs with tropical fish. Smuggler's Cove tends to have slightly more current, while Cane Garden Bay is calmer and shallower, making it easier for swimmers who prefer gentler conditions.

Do I need to bring my own snorkel gear?

No. Snorkel equipment is provided as part of the tour, so you arrive with nothing but your swimsuit and sunscreen.

Is lunch included, or do I need to bring food?

Lunch is not included. The tour stops at Cane Garden Bay where restaurants and cafés line the beach, and you can order and pay for meals or drinks there. Soft drinks and snacks are provided during the tour itself.

How much time do I spend in the water versus on the beach?

The tour is structured around snorkeling at both bays and relaxing time on the sand. Most of the four hours involves water time and beach time at each location, with transport between them.

What happens if I'm not a strong swimmer?

Both bays have shallow entry points and calm areas. The guide can help you stay in shallow water and move at your own pace. The tour is suitable for all fitness levels, though it's not recommended for travelers with poor cardiovascular health.
