AquaRio and the Bay View: Rio's Waterfront in One Morning

You tour Latin America's largest aquarium with entry included, then ride to Olympic Boulevard to see Kobra's massive graffiti mural and walk to the Museum of Tomorrow overlooking Guanabara Bay. Transport, parking and a guide are all arranged; you just show up and move through the city without managing tickets or directions yourself.

4h–5h

Step-by-step itinerary

  • Visit largest aquarium in Latin America
  • See famous Kobra graffiti artwork
  • Walk around Museum of Tomorrow area
  • View Guanabara Bay and Rio Niterói Bridge

The Experience

You start at AquaRio, the largest aquarium in Latin America, where the guide walks you through the tanks and tells you what lives in the Atlantic waters off Rio de Janeiro. The aquarium entry is included, so you don't have to buy a ticket at the door. After that, you get back in the air-conditioned vehicle and head toward Boulevard Olimpico, where the city opens up along the water.

The Boulevard is where you see one of the world's largest graffiti murals, painted by the artist Kobra — it's impossible to miss, and your guide will point out the detail. From there you walk to the Museum of Tomorrow, which sits right on the edge of Guanabara Bay. You don't go inside the museum (entry is separate), but you stand in front of it and look out at the Rio-Niterói Bridge and the Naval District across the water. The whole route from the aquarium to the museum is walkable, and the guide stays with you the whole time, talking about the city as you move.

Transportation is handled — the vehicle picks you up, takes you between stops, and covers parking. The route is wheelchair accessible, and the vehicle itself is air-conditioned, which matters in Rio's heat. The whole experience runs as a half-day outing, so it doesn't eat your entire schedule.
