Dive crystal-clear waters with expert guidance and vibrant marine life all around

Diving in Angra dos Reis is a four-hour activity with a certified PADI company, departing daily aboard dive-equipped vessels. Beginners receive thirty minutes of instruction before entering the water at one site. Certified divers choose from two spots based on visibility and tide. The operator provides wetsuits, tanks and flippers. Water and light snacks come aboard.

The experience

Angra dos Reis sits in Rio de Janeiro state with over 365 islands and calm, clear bays that let you see the marine life below. The dive sites shift day to day depending on visibility and tide. The operator confirms where you're going once you arrive, which means you get the best conditions available rather than a fixed route. Beginners and certified divers split into separate groups, so you're diving with people at your level.

The first thirty minutes happen on land: general instruction on how to dive, then a wetsuit fitting. After that you board the boat to Angra Bay. If you're certified, you'll have two different sites to choose from. If you're new to diving, there's one site designed for beginners. Water, seasonal fruit and a light snack are provided on the boat, and the operator supplies the wetsuit, fins and tank. You bring a towel, sunscreen and cash or card for anything extra.

Tours run on a shared basis with other passengers, so you're not booking a private group. Public transportation options are available nearby if you need to reach the departure point. Cancellations made at least 24 hours ahead get a full refund. Cancellations on the day of the tour do not.

Is this one for you?The guide speaks English, Spanish or Portuguese, so pick the language that matches your comfort level. Top questions

What languages is the tour guided in?

Live guide in English, Spanish and Portuguese.

How clear is the water in Angra dos Reis for diving?

Angra dos Reis is recognized as one of Brazil's best diving spots because its calm waters offer excellent visibility, revealing the rich local aquatic fauna and flora. Visibility shifts with tide and weather, which is why the operator confirms the exact dive sites on the day you arrive.

What happens in the first thirty minutes if I've never dived before?

Beginners receive general instruction on how to dive and are fitted for a wetsuit before boarding the boat. You then dive at one site chosen for beginners. Certified divers access two different sites.

What equipment do I need to bring, and what does the operator provide?

The operator provides the wetsuit, fins and tank. You bring a towel, sunscreen, and cash or card for any extras you want to purchase. Shoe size, height and weight are requested at booking so your gear fits properly.

Can I do this dive if I'm not certified yet?

Yes. Beginners receive thirty minutes of instruction on land before the dive, then enter the water at a beginner-designated site. The activity is suitable for all physical fitness levels.
