The experience
Angra dos Reis sits on the Rio de Janeiro coast with over 365 islands and waters so calm and clear that visibility lets you see the marine life that makes it one of Brazil's top diving destinations. The boat departs daily with a small shared group. Within the first thirty minutes after arrival, you get a general orientation on how the dive will work. After a wetsuit fitting, the boat heads into Angra Bay. Beginners have access to one site. If you hold a certification, you can choose between two deeper sites. The guide is a live PADI instructor speaking English, Spanish or Portuguese.
Wetsuits, fins and tanks come with the booking. You bring only your towel, sunscreen and cash for anything else. Water, seasonal fruit and a light snack are served on the boat during the return. The exact dive spots shift based on the day's tide and visibility, so the guide can steer you toward the best conditions and the richest marine life. Colorful fish, corals, turtles and even shipwrecks are what divers encounter here, though what you see depends on which site the guide chooses and the season.
Public transportation reaches the departure point, so you don't need a rental car to get there. Infants can join if they sit on an adult's lap. The activity suits all fitness levels. Cancellations made at least 24 hours ahead receive a full refund. Same-day cancellations do not.
