The experience

The FG Big Wheel anchors the middle of the day: at 82 meters high, its 36 air-conditioned cabins give you a full view of the city and waterfront before you move on. The tour starts with a drive along Avenida Atlântica, the main shore road overlooking Ilha Das Cabras, then moves through Pontal Norte to see the newly built mole and its wooden decks and viewpoints connecting the Canto and Buraco beaches. From there you hit the Ferris wheel, then the Oceanic Aquarium (the largest in southern Brazil with over 100 species across 25 enclosures), though entry is optional and costs extra.

Unipraias Park is the centerpiece stop. This tourist complex sits inside the Atlantic Forest and runs 47 modern aerial cable cars across three stations, connecting two beaches in a setup that exists nowhere else. You ride to Laranjeiras station, where lunch and beach time are built into the day so you can swim. The park entry itself is not included in the tour price. Before that, you pass through Passarela Da Barra to see the Camboriú River and the Yachthouse, the largest building in Latin America, then visit Bairro da Barra, the neighborhood where the city started, with stops at Praça dos Pescadores, Casa Linhares and Nossa Senhora Do Bom Sucesso Church.

The tour wraps with two more waterfront stops: the Automobile Museum with classics from every decade, then the Mole Da Barra Sul, a 452-meter pier that gives you the full edge of Balneário Camboriú. On holidays like Christmas and Easter, the mole gets special decoration. A pirate boat tour is also listed as a stop, though it carries its own ticket cost. The guide is accredited by Cadastur and speaks Portuguese. The van has air conditioning, a stereo, DVD and individual reclining seats. Infants can travel in a pram or on an adult's lap.
