The experience

You descend 50 feet into Crystal Caves to see stalactites and crystallized soda straws over a thousand years old, or visit the aquarium to watch seals, turtles and the world's first living coral reef exhibit. You choose which one fits your interests. The tour threads through Hamilton for a walk and a look at local shops, then stops at Swizzle Inn, Bermuda's oldest pub, where you can eat if you want to. Gibbs Hill Lighthouse, one of the first steel-built lighthouses still standing, gives you some of the best picture-taking views on the island.

The day also takes in Cooper's Island Nature Reserve, where five beaches sit in one area, and a stretch of beach covered in smoothed glass pebbles from a factory that operated there over a hundred years ago. A guide leads the whole route in English, and the flexible duration (anywhere from 4 to 6 hours depending on how long you linger) means you set the pace at each stop. Hotel pickup is included, so you don't arrange transport yourself.
