The Experience

The day starts with a short film at the park, then you suit up in harness, gloves and helmet for the Monkey Zipline—a multiple-line run that takes you roughly 120 feet above the gully. After the zipline, you move to the Gully Challenge Course, a 14-element obstacle setup that is the largest of its kind in the Caribbean. You can go solo or bring your crew; the course is designed to test balance, strength and nerve across a series of high-ropes challenges.

Between the adrenaline, the park has quieter moments built in. The Pride of Barbados Nature Trail and Bird Aviary let you catch your breath and watch local species. If you want food or a drink, the Green Monkey Pool Bar & Grill is on-site and open for purchases; you can eat poolside or take a dip in the pool overlooking the Jack in the Box Gully. The Mount Gay Experience is a self-guided tour of the rum distillery, where you learn how Barbados holds the title of oldest commercial rum producer in the world. Before you leave, stop by the photo desk to buy action shots the team captured of you throughout the day.

Pickup is included and the guide speaks English. You choose between a 9:00 AM, 1:00 PM, or 10:00 AM departure; if you're arriving from a cruise ship, only the 10:00 AM slot is available, and the timing is set to get you back to the port before the ship leaves. Wear sneakers—fully enclosed shoes are required—and no skirts or dresses on the zipline or course. Cameras, cell phones and bags stay off the equipment; both hands need to be free. Hairstyles may need to be pinned or tucked to fit under the helmet safely.
