Most people spend a day at Taronga Zoo or a day on Sydney Harbour. This pass lets you do both without buying separate tickets or figuring out the ferry schedule yourself. The 2-day hop-on hop-off cruise ticket covers six stops: Circular Quay, Darling Harbour, Shark Island, Manly, Watsons Bay and Taronga Zoo, and you get full entry to the zoo on one of those days. The cruise runs on consecutive days, so you pick when to use your zoo time and when to just ride between the precincts.

Taronga Zoo sits right on the water. You arrive by ferry, which already feels different from a regular zoo visit. Once you're in, there are more than 2,900 animals spread across exhibits like the Asian Rainforest (where you watch orangutans) and the AGL Amazon section. The zoo runs keeper talks throughout the day, a seal theatre with live performances, and a free-flight bird show where raptors hunt on cue. The zoo opens at 9:30am and closes at 4:30pm, so staff recommend catching the first ferry of the day if you want to see everything without rushing. On your second day, you can skip the zoo and just cruise: hit Manly Beach and the restaurants along the waterfront, or spend an afternoon on Shark Island in the middle of the harbour with a picnic and a swim.

The cruise includes recorded commentary you can download, so you're not dependent on a live guide talking over the engine noise. Darling Harbour is the starting point if you want to begin there. It's surrounded by restaurants and bars at King Street Wharf and Barangaroo. Watsons Bay is a short walk from beaches and lookout points.
