The experience

You get a web app and 15 cryptic clues. Your job is to decode them and find the hidden corners of Sydney that most people walk past without seeing: secret speakeasies, street art, and charming lanes that date back to the city's earliest days, when properties clustered around a freshwater stream. The trail starts at Customs House and winds through the streets you thought you knew. Teams of 2–4 work best, and the pace is entirely yours: spend an hour racing through or three hours stopping to photograph and explore.

This is not a guided tour. You navigate using the app, solve the clues yourself, and decide when to move on. The trail takes you past sites with real history (the old lanes that became hidden gems in modern Sydney), but the discovery is yours to make. When you finish, the app gives you your stats and a detailed explanation of all the sights you found, so you learn what you were looking at and why it matters.
