The experience

You arrive at Bankstown Airport at your booked time and meet your pilot, who walks you through a safety brief and gives you time to photograph the helicopter before boarding. The airport has a waiting room and free parking at the door if you're bringing observers along. Transfers from Bankstown Train Station can be arranged with prior notice.

The flight departs north over western Sydney and passes Olympic Park, home of the 2000 Olympics, before following the Parramatta River toward the harbour. Your pilot narrates the route in detail and answers questions as you go. You'll fly directly over the Sydney Harbour Bridge (close enough to see the bridge climbers below), then circle Fort Denison, Taronga Zoo, Sydney Heads and the bays that ring the city. The return leg brings you back to Bankstown, where you land after 30 minutes in the air.

The helicopter seats up to four passengers. Weight limits apply: groups of three must not exceed 270 kilograms combined, and groups of four must not exceed 360 kilograms combined. Infants can ride on an adult's lap, and the aircraft is wheelchair accessible. The tour runs regardless of weather, so dress for the conditions.
