The experience
You start with a pickup from your accommodation and spend the afternoon moving between Norfolk Island's small-scale food makers. The tour introduces you to people who are still hands-on with their craft: a salt maker harvesting sea salt from the waters around the island, a beekeeper tending the island's hives, a beef producer raising cattle locally, and a distillery making 15 liqueurs, rum and whiskey mostly from island ingredients. At each stop you taste what they make and hear how they do it: the stories and techniques that shape Norfolk Island's food identity.
A cooking demonstration follows, where you'll learn about traditional dishes passed down through generations, rooted in Tahitian recipes and methods. You taste in-season local produce and sample the island's emerging tea industry before finishing with honey from the beekeeper. The whole experience is built around light tastings. It's not a full meal, so you'll want to plan lunch or dinner separately.
