Step-by-step itinerary
Barossa Valley winery tastings and visits
- Henschke wine tasting
- Rockford wine tasting
- Murray Street Vineyard tasting
- Walk through a must-see winery
- Chateau Tanunda wine tasting
The experience
The tour picks you up from your accommodation and drives you through Barossa Valley to five wineries, each chosen for what makes it different from the last. Henschke opens with a pre-selected tasting of their wines. Rockford follows with their own selection. Murray Street Vineyard sits in a setting the operator describes as one of their "little secret places," and Chateau Tanunda (where all their wines are basket press and natural) offers tastings you can upgrade if you choose. The fifth stop depends on timing and what works that day, but the route is built to show you contrast and value across the region's producers.
A guide travels with the group the whole way, explaining what you're tasting and why each winery matters. You get bottled water throughout the seven-and-a-half-hour outing, and the van has WiFi. The group is shared, so you'll travel with other wine drinkers. The operator keeps groups small enough that tastings don't turn into a crowd. Pickup and drop-off are included, though outer CBD locations need arranging in advance. Lunch is not part of the itinerary, so plan to eat before or after.
Tastings at some stops are included. Others you can upgrade at your own cost. Rockford and Chateau Tanunda both encourage you to buy if you find something you like. The operator notes these are places worth supporting. You're free to purchase wine or skip it. Nothing is mandatory beyond the tasting itself.
What’s included
