How do you fit three wineries and lunch into one day without spending it in a car? The answer is Maipu, the region just outside Mendoza where the wineries cluster close enough that the drive between them stays short. The tour starts with pickup from your hotel, then heads to a traditional olive grove in the area to see how the oil gets made and taste the products before moving on to the cellars themselves.

Each of the three wineries (Corbel, Esencia and Viña El Cerno) are small producers with limited output, so the visits stay intimate. At each one, you'll walk through the facilities with the guide and taste at least three wines. The real anchor of the day is the last stop: a four-course Criollo lunch, each course paired with a wine from that cellar. The menu is traditional regional cooking, and the operator accommodates vegetarian, vegan and celiac diets if you give 48 hours' notice. After lunch, the drive back to your accommodation takes around an hour depending on traffic.

The whole day runs 7 to 8 hours from pickup to drop-off. All entry fees, tastings, the meal and transport are included. You bring only yourself and the appetite for wine and food.
