The experience

The Limay, Manso and Pichi Leufu rivers sit inside Nahuel Huapi National Park, the heart of Bariloche's fly fishing country. Your guide picks you up from your hotel at 8:30am, drives 45 minutes to the launch point, and puts you on water where rainbows, browns and brookies hold in the current. You cast from the boat or wade depending on the river and the conditions: the guide reads the water and positions you where the fish are feeding. All gear comes with you: rods, reels, lines and flies are set up and ready, so you arrive at the bank without having to assemble anything.

Fishing runs hard until around noon, when the guide pulls to a shaded spot on the shore for lunch. A full meal, soft drinks, beer and Argentine Malbec wines are laid out while you rest. If the bite is hot, you fish through the break and eat later. If it's slow, you take the time to regroup. After lunch the fishing resumes until the afternoon winds down or the light fades, the trip runs 8 to 10 hours total, but if the fish are feeding and you want to stay, the guide will fish longer at no extra charge. Groups run from one angler to eight, with one bilingual guide per two fishers, so you get personal attention and instruction tailored to your level.
