The experience

Galleon Beach sits in St. John's, Antigua, and the snorkel happens in its clear, shallow waters. You walk straight in from the sand. The guide stays with you the whole time, naming the species as they appear: green sea turtles, stingrays, eagle rays, sea urchins, sea cucumbers, conch, hermit crabs and a mix of tropical fish that shift through the water in front of you. The point is to watch how they behave in their own space, not to chase them.

You get a mask and fins, and the guide handles the navigation and the identification. High-quality underwater photos come back with you: shots of you in the water and of whatever marine life crosses your path. Refreshments are included when you're done, and the whole thing takes about an hour from start to finish.
