The experience

The drive departs after dusk when Zambezi National Park shifts into its nocturnal rhythm. Red spotlights let you watch leopards, hyenas, owls and other night-active animals without startling them, and the guide points out behavior and calls you'd miss in daylight. The park's darkness is the whole point: it's when the animals you came to see are actually moving and hunting. About 3.5 hours of driving covers the terrain where these creatures are most active.

After the drive, dinner happens either at the Ele-crew facility under the open sky or back at your hotel, depending on what you choose. A 3-course meal arrives with soft drinks, mineral water, local beers and wines. You're eating surrounded by the actual sounds of the nocturnal bush, not a recording, not a simulation. The guide stays throughout and can answer questions about what you heard and saw on the drive.

Hotel or lodge pickup and return transfers are included for anywhere in Victoria Falls Town, so you don't arrange separate transport. The operator asks that you wear neutral-colored clothing and comfortable walking shoes. If it's winter or rainy season, bring warm layers or a rain jacket. Children from age 4 are welcome.
